Getting Active

Walking

Walking is one of the easiest, and cheapest ways to become more active.

A regular brisk walk in the fresh air is not only great for your physical health and fitness levels but can also boost your mood, reduce stress and improve your general wellbeing.

Walking doesn’t require any special equipment, all you need is a comfortable pair of shoes or trainers, and it can be easily fitted into your daily routine.

Ways to Start Walking

If you’re new to walking & hiking, or coming back to it after a break, the key thing to remember is start gradually and build up slowly. If you haven’t done any exercise for a while, you might want to build up your fitness levels through short walks first.

You don’t have to go on long walks to reap the benefits – walking briskly for just 10 minutes a day can have a positive impact on your health.
