Alford Town FC Walking Football Club offers a great opportunity for players to continue playing, to keep their footballing skills honed, and really enjoy the fun and camaraderie of a great group.
Our club was has founded in 2019. We’ve be playing regularly ever since, and have seen a growing number of participants each week.
Our sessions take place once a week and we use the grass at the club grounds in the lighter evenings and play on astroturf in the winter time.
We are an inclusive club, focused on creating a fun and enjoyable environment within training, and we sometimes enter local competitions too. You can either enjoy weekly training sessions or join our League squad. Our league team play in the Lincolnshire wide league and various tournaments.
With no running, jogging or heading and tackling with reduced physical contact walking football is a very inclusive game suitable for all abilities and fitness levels.
Who can play? What do I need?
At our club, walking football is played predominantly by over 50’s, but anyone is welcome at our sessions.
You don’t need any special equipment is needed. You just need normal football kit and enthusiasm!
Why walking football?
With no running allowed it’s a more gentle version of the game and gives you a little more time to think strategically as you play.
It’s a great way to help you keep fit adding in a few hours of activity each week. Walking is lower impact on your body and it helps people of all abilities and fitness levels to play at a similar level without being penalised because you’re not quite as fast as you used to be.
