Hi I am Lorraine and I have been teaching fitness classes specifically tailored for the older generation for over 20 years. Keeping mobile as we age is so important but definitely doesn’t have to be boring. My class, “Lorraine and her supple seniors” is for over 60’s looking for somewhere to socialise while exercising to enhance co-ordination and balance.
We start with standing exercises to get ourselves moving, accompanied by some fabulous 60’s tunes. Then move onto seated exercises focusing on upper body movement before moving onto some gentle mobility work including areas such as fingers and wrists to encourage circulation and keep the joints moving.
After the exercise we have time for tea, coffee and a biscuit when the group sit and have a chat. It’s fun, there is laughter and we have a great time.
Is it suitable for me?
The class caters for all levels of abilities as we offer alternatives to suit everybody. You can do as much or as little as you can, many of the class find they start doing more and more as the weeks go on.
“The class is wonderful for me as I can do as much or as little as I like. It’s not too serious, we have a laugh and then after we have a cup of tea and a natter”
Why come along?
Most of us know that physical activity and exercise is good for us and this is particularly true as we get older. The class is designed with that in mind, to provide effective exercise tailored for the older person. There are so many benefits to be gained from joining in with a class including improved circulation, joint mobilisation, strength and suppleness, heart health benefits and so many more.
“When I started I wasn’t able to do the things I loved because my health was holding me back. Knitting was something I had been forced to stop as my fingers wouldn’t allow me to do it before. Lorraine and her classes have helped me so much I was able to produce a knitted bear for my grandson”
Do I need anything to get started?
No, you don’t need to bring any equipment. Just wear some comfortable clothing and suitable footwear for moving around in.
Sessions take place at Old Leake Community Centre in Old Leake near Boston. This community venue gives a quiet (until the music starts) private space, perfect for feeling confident as you give it a go.
Where can I find out more?
Send me an email or give me a call. I’m always happy to chat about the classes and answer any questions.
