Pinbusters

Pinbusters is a ten Pin bowling club in Skegness with a difference. The club is part of our charity; Lincoln and Lindsey Blind Society. We set up the club over 20 years ago to provide some much needed social interaction, and a competitive sport opportunity for our client members.

What do we do?

Ten Pin Bowling – of course everyone has heard of that. Ours is ten pin bowling with a difference! All our Bowlers are either Blind or partially sighted.

We have volunteer guides who are sighted to help those who need it, so it’s fun for everyone taking part.

To take part as a player you need to be registered either Sight Impaired (SI) or Severely Sight impaired (SSI) and to be a member of LLBS. Everyone is welcome, there is a handicap system in place for the National League scoring. A sense of humour is probably a requirement as they are a lively bunch!

Everyone loves it. It’s fun, it’s exercise and its an opportunity to mix with others who have sight-loss issues.

“I enjoy meeting with friends and it’s good fun. There’s lots of banter, and I try to go as much as I can as it’s the only social activity I have.”

Andrew, Pinbuster Bowler

How can I get involved?

We play at Empire Bowling on Grand Parade, Skegness at 12-2 every Wednesday. We also have a similar bowling group in Mablethorpe ‘The Lincolnshire Bombers’ they meet at the Mirage Mablethorpe, again on Wednesdays but at 10-12.

We’re always keen for people to volunteer at either venue, as sighted-guides. The group would not be able to go ahead without our very much valued volunteers.

Get in touch if it’s something you want to be part of.
