Kerry Rye runs a range of group classes suitable for a wide range of people. Find out more below about her Fitness and Friendship sessions for older adults, and for something more energetic, her Clubbercise classes which combine dance music and movement into one workout in a dark room with disco lights and glow sticks!
Fitness and Friendship
Fitness and Friendship is a group for Older Adults primarily 65 and over but can be younger. We meet for 90 minutes on a Thursday at 1.30pm till 3.00pm, the first 45 minutes we exercise to music whilst seated and then we have a cup of tea/coffee and a chat.
The group focuses on movement to music but just as important is the social aspect afterwards, the opportunity to make new friends and have a chat.
“Kerry, I look forward to your class every week. It’s beneficial for my upper body workout and find I’m stronger than before. My mental health has improved and it’s such fun with new friends – Thank you.”
Who is it for?
The group is open to men and women generally over 65 who like music and like to keep active. It is beginner friendly, there are various levels and the exercises can be done using just the upper body or adding the legs if you are able.
Why join?
We have a fabulous group of people who are so friendly and we have a good giggle. You do not need to learn routines as I break the movement down each week and the exercises are easy to follow. The coffee/tea and chat afterwards gives everyone the opportunity to make friends and have a catch up . As an Instructor I benefit more than the people who attend as I am able to spend 90 minutes with such fabulous people!
“Kerry your class is the best thing I’ve done! I have felt fitter, stronger and more confident than I have for a long time! You are so friendly and make everyone welcome, a lovely class which is fun and has great music, well done Kerry!”
How to get involved
No equipment is needed, just comfortable clothing and you can bring a drink of water if you wish to. You just need to fill in a quick questionnaire at your first class so it’s a good idea to come a bit earlier the first week. The classes are held during term times and cost £5 pay as you go which includes the tea/coffee and there is also a loyalty card. When you collect 10 stamps you get a week free!
Clubbercise
Clubbercise is a full body workout class that combines popular dance music and exercising. It takes place in a darkened room with disco lights and glow sticks!
Who can join in?
Clubbercise is open for anyone 16 years or over. It’s suitable for all fitness levels and is very beginner friendly. The routines are easy to follow with high and low impact options to suit all abilities.
Why do people love it?
Classes are held in a darkened room with disco lights and glow sticks. People love the fact that they are not on show and so feel less conscious. The music is infectious and it feels like a night out without the hangover!
