Friskney Bowmen – Archery Club

Friskney Bowmen are a friendly archery club situated in East Lindsey, Lincolnshire. We welcome beginners and archers of all ages, abilities and disciplines. Our club nights are held twice a week on a Wednesday and Thursday where everyone is invited to come and shoot together.

We have several Archery GB Qualified coaches who are happy to assist new members by passing on their knowledge or if you would like some more structured guidance, we offer Archery beginner courses to anyone over 6 years old which can be started at any time throughout the year.

Our club facilities include our own field (available to members 365 days a year), and indoor facilities at Leverton Leisure Centre for shooting in the winter.

Who can take part in archery?

Archery is one of the most accessible sports, so no matter your age or ability, you can come and join us at a club night. We have equipment suitable for the smaller hands of younger children through to adult.

If you have a physical or visual impairment or neurodiversity and you would like to sign up please do contact us to discuss how we can support you to start archery.

What’s great about archery?

There are so many reasons to love Archery but here are some of the top ones:

It’s a lifetime sport. People can start shooting in early childhood and continue to well into their 70’s and 80’s. It’s also a great family activity. Parents, and grandparents, children and sibling can have fun and spend time together, while they learn something new and cheer each other on.

You can take part in archery all year round. It goes indoors for winter, with archers shooting targets at 20 yards and outdoors from April, with archers shooting targets at 10 to 100 yards depending on their age and equipment type.

Archery let’s you go at your own pace, and you don’t have to keep score. You can enjoy it for exercise, or just for fun with the group. Even our beginner courses are taken at your pace – there are no set dates that you must attend for coaching.

It’s is a sport that nearly anyone can pursue regardless of physical ability. Target archery itself has been a Paralympic sport for more than thirty years.

How can I get involved?

You do not need your own equipment. We will supply you with all the safety equipment along with bows to match for the evening and one of our Archery GB qualified coaches will be on hand to help.

Club nights are on Wednesday and Thursday nights from 6:30pm at our Field (Friskney Bowmen Archery Field, Church Road, Friskney, PE22 8RD) in the summer or the Leverton Leisure Centre in the winter.

Not sure if Archery is for you? Come along to one of our club nights or open days and have a go. Taster sessions are available to book via our website.
