Brighten up winter with RED January

With the shorter days, and colder weather it can be harder to keep active during the winter months. But although it can be tempting to curl up in front of the television, and put off those plans for being active, moving more can really help to boost our mood and beat the winter blues.

RED January is a campaign encouraging participants to ‘Rise Every Day’ and move more to brighten up your winter.

What’s does it involve?

Participants can rise to their own challenge of moving every day in January, in whatever way works best for you – whether that’s jogging, walking, dancing, work outs or cycling (or a combination of all of them!). Just choose a challenge that works for you and your lifestyle. By committing to your goal you can set good habits for the rest of the year.

Why should I take part?

More than half of participants who participate in RED January experience a significant improvement in happiness and a reduction in anxiety during the month. Meanwhile nearly a third (32%) of participants moved from being inactive to fairly active with 74% being more active than usual. What’s more, by taking part you can raise funds for RED’s official charity Mind over Mountains whilst taking part.
