We all know that staying active is great for our physical health — but it’s also really important for our mental wellbeing and a great way to connect with others.
To make it easier (and more affordable) to get moving, we’ve pulled together a range of special offers from local businesses and community groups in Lincoln. We’re also shining a spotlight on the many low-cost ways to stay active in the area — from running clubs and guided walks to fun activity sessions and local clubs.

University of Lincoln Sport Centre – Community Access
The Sports Centre is home to the University gym and a range of indoor and outdoor sports facilities. The centre is offering 20% off Community Membership in April.
With on-site Fitness Instructors, members can enjoy personalised plans alongside a series of weekly classes such as HIIT, Zumba and Boxing.
One NK extended opening hours
One NK Leisure centre have extended their opening hours, and created additional spaces in their swim school.
Swim school is open to locals of all ages. A monthly membership per child is £35 with adult lessons costing £40 per month. Swimmbies (baby and parent) and pre-school children memberships cost £38.00 per month.
Keeping up fitness goals is now even easier thanks to One NK’s state-of-the-art gym extending its opening hours. Non-members can pay as they go at £10 per gym session with monthly memberships ranging from £26.00 – £38.50. Junior gym members, aged 11-17 years are also welcome. Find out more on their website.
Primal Life Gym
Primal Life Gym, situated just outside Lincoln city centre, is offering a Free 21 day pass during April. This family friendly gym offers a wide range of modern equipment, expert personal trainer support and small group training sessions, as well as kids coaching sessions, all in a supportive atmosphere.

North Hykeham Tae Kwon Do Club
Train with North Hykeham Tae Kwon Do Club for FREE until the end of this month, subject to class space. The club train at One NK, North Hykeham; they have adult only sessions on Tuesdays & Thursdays, 3–4 PM, which are very relaxed and welcoming. Evening sessions run Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:30–7:30 PM (space is limited). Please get in contact with the club via their facebook page if you’d like to take advantage of this offer. This offer is aimed at members of Yarborough or Birchwood centres.
Lincoln Lifting
Lincoln Lifting is a powerlifting and weightlifting gym based in Lincoln. They are offering 12 weeks of 1-1 coaching with 50% off for new customers. Get in touch with them via their website.
Energie Fitness
Energie Fitness have a special offer with limited availability for new customers of only £3.49 per week. The gym also offers a free trail, for those who want to try out the gym before making any commitment.

Walking Groups
Ramblers Wellbeing Walks are short walks, led by friendly, specially trained volunteer walk leaders, who are on hand to provide encouragement and support. Joining a walk can help boost your fitness and wellbeing. You can also learn about your local area and its wildlife, meet new friends and boost your mental wellbeing.
There are a number of walks to enjoy in Lincoln and the surrounding area, coordinated by Lincolnshire Co-op, including walks in the beautiful settings of Hartsholme park and Whisby Nature Park. Low cost exercise sessions
There are lots of exercise groups and sessions that take place in village halls, and community centres throughout Lincoln. We’re highlighting just a few here, but take a look on the activity finder for more.
For Older Adults
For older adults the U3A in Lincoln run regular activity sessions for a small fee (note you’ll have to sign up for a yearly membership to take part). These include Qigong, (a relaxing class with flowing movement, suitable for all fitness levels including seated) table tennis, circle dancing and walking. Find out more on their website.
Age UK also offer a variety of activities for older adults at their Park Street Activity Centre in Lincoln. Sessions include, short mat bowls, table tennis, and walking tennis, tai chi, seated exercise and dance. Find out more about all the sessions on the Age UK website.
Lincoln City Foundation have a variety of low cost classes aimed at older adults including seated exercise sessions, indoor carpet bowls and walking football. Find out more on their website.
For Children and young People
At the other end of the age spectrum, there are lots of activities in Lincoln for young people to enjoy.
Lincoln City Foundation also cater for children and young people with a wide range of weekly activities as well as active holiday clubs. Find out more on their website
YMCA run Parkour sessions and climbing at the Showroom on Tritton Road. They also host a weekly youth group at Moorlands Community Centre.
Running
Groups and clubs
Joining a club or group is a great way to enjoy running whether you’re just getting started or you want to improve. Below are some Lincoln based clubs.
Lincoln & District Runners (lincolndistrictrunners.co.uk)
A friendly and social group of runners who meet for runs in Lincoln and the surrounding areas. The club meets twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Lincs Run Club
A friendly and inclusive run club that meet in and around Lincoln on Tuesdays and Thursday.
Pink Ladies Running Club
Based in Lincoln, this ladies only running club offers a supportive non-competitive environment to encourage women of all ages to run together in a safe, fun and supportive way.
Parkrun
Parkruns are free weekly 5km runs (or walks) that take place on Saturday mornings. These friendly, volunteer led events are ideal for beginners and offer a supportive environment.
Yarborough Parkrun is taking place once again and there are other local parkruns nearby which take place in Boultham Park (Lincoln Parkrun) and at Doddington Hall. Discover more about parkrun and other venues in Lincolnshire here.
Enjoy getting active in Lincoln’s parks and green spaces
A local park is a fantastic place to get active outdoors in the fresh air. Lincoln is fortunate enough to have a number of scenic parks and green spaces. As well as being spaces you can enjoy a walk, or jog, many local park in Lincolnshire feature organised activities, nature trails, playgrounds and even green gyms – meaning they’re great places for getting fit for free.
There are also a number of volunteering opportunities available, from litter picking to gardening. By taking part in these activities you’ll not only feel good from meeting new people and doing your bit for your local environment, you’ll also benefit from keeping active outdoors.
