Introduction
Sleaford Snails Walking Football Club offers a friendly, low-impact way for older adults and those with health conditions to stay active, social and connected. Based at Better Gym Sleaford, the club runs three weekly sessions and has grown rapidly, now welcoming more than 70 players each week. Their focus is simple: fun, fitness and friendship for everyone.

Who can join in?
The Sleaford Snails welcome men aged 45 and over, and women aged 35+ and over, with most players in their 50s, 60s and 70s. No experience is needed—sessions are relaxed, supportive and suitable for all abilities.
Players include people living with Parkinson’s disease, MS, cancer, heart conditions and arthritis, as well as those looking to improve confidence, mobility or general fitness. Equipment is provided, and players can wear whatever they feel comfortable in.
Why do people love it?
Walking football offers a safe, low-impact way to move more, helping improve balance, stamina and overall health. It’s ideal for those returning to activity or managing long-term conditions.
The Snails also place great emphasis on the social side. Each session ends with a drink and a chat, helping players build friendships and boost their mental wellbeing. Many members say the sense of community keeps them coming back.
As a not-for-profit club, the Snails also support local charities and community projects—another reason members feel proud to be part of the group.
How do I get involved?
No experience is required. The club offers three morning sessions each week at Better Gym Sleaford, and new players are welcome to come along and try a session. Find out more on their facebook player’s group
