Why Try Walking Tennis?

Walking tennis is ideal for those who are just starting, returning from an injury or just need a bit more time getting to the ball. The game is designed to be relaxed and accessible to all, allowing you time for as many rest breaks as you need. As for the game, it’s still tennis – but with a few tweaks:

  • You can let the ball bounce twice for extra time,
  • You play on a smaller court and can use modified equipment (i.e. smaller net, softer tennis balls, smaller tennis rackets),
  • Running and jumping are not allowed, making it a fantastic low impact sport.

What do I need to take part?

You don’t need any specialist equipment or clothing to play Walking Tennis. All you need is:

  • a comfortable and sturdy pair of shoes, like trainers,
  • loose clothing that you are able to move easily in,
  • and a water bottle to help keep you hydrated while you play.

The clubs and sports halls will provide the rackets and balls for hire or use during your session. This is predominantly an outdoor sport so we recommend checking the weather and preparing to wear suitable warmer or cooler clothing.

Positively Impact Your Mental Health:

Even short bursts of regular exercise have proven benefits to your physical and mental health, making this indoor sport a fantastic way to boost your well-being.
