Caron, a secondary school teacher from Lincolnshire, has transformed her life through physical activity after facing serious health challenges. Following two mini strokes within a few years, Caron reached a critical turning point—realising that no one could change her life but herself. What began as a fearful wake-up call has since become an inspiring journey of health, resilience and renewal.
Taking the First Steps Towards Change
After her second stroke, Caron committed to change. She connected with a Lifestyle Coach through the NHS and was introduced to One You Lincolnshire’s “Exercise on Prescription” programme and Magna Vitae’s supportive fitness community. Initially, Caron made small dietary adjustments and joined Slimming World, losing a stone and a half. Encouraged by early results, she overcame her fear of the gym—something she once loved in her younger years but now felt alienated from.
Her courage led her to Personal Training sessions with Liezi, who played a pivotal role in building Caron’s confidence. Despite challenges like reduced coordination and memory issues from her strokes, Caron persevered. She gradually transitioned from solo workouts to group classes like yoga, Pilates and spinning, each one helping her rediscover strength she thought she had lost.

Making a remarkable transformation – both physical and mental
Caron’s progress is remarkable:
- She’s gone from a size 18 to a size 10.
- Lost 4 stone and reduced her body age by six years.
- Increased her muscle mass
- Regained the confidence to engage in activities like swimming, which she had previously avoided.
But beyond the numbers, it’s Caron’s mental transformation that truly shines. Exercise has become her daily anchor—helping her manage work stress, menopause symptoms and life’s emotional challenges. Yoga, in particular, has strengthened her mental resilience. She often says, “Your mind is a bigger battle than your body,” and she’s won that battle, step by step.
Inspiring Others to Take Control
Now, Caron inspires others by sharing her story and encouraging newcomers at the gym. Her message is simple: “No excuses—take control of your life.” Her journey is proof that change is possible at any age.
