Getting Started with Archery

Archery is a great physical activity. Drawing a bow takes energy and tones and strengthens the muscles in your arms and back. You’ll also get your steps in faster than you think, walking to the shooting line and then to the target to collect your arrows.

It also builds focus and concentration. You will learn to remove distractions from your mind, including gusts of wind, background noise and any worries you may be carrying to focus on hitting your target.

What do I need to take part?

You don’t need any specialist equipment or clothing to take part in archery. All you need is:

  • a comfortable and sturdy pair of shoes, like trainers,
  • loose clothing that you are able to move easily in,
  • and a water bottle to help keep you hydrated throughout the session.

The clubs will provide protective gear and archery bow and arrows, including the target you’ll be shooting at. This is predominantly an outdoor sport, so you will want to check the weather before your airsoft session and take warmer clothing and waterproofs.
