Get Active for National Fitness Day

National Fitness Day is taking place on Wednesday 21 September. This annual event is a celebration of the importance of physical activity in helping us to lead healthier lifestyles. The theme of this year’s event is Fitness Unites Us to reflect the ways physical activity can bring friends, family, colleagues, and communities together across the country.

The event provides the perfect opportunity to think about how you can be more active and try out a new activity or class. There are lots of free classes, taster sessions and open days at gyms and leisure centres across the county. From outdoor bootcamps and Zumba classes, to free swimming sessions and walks, there’s plenty on offer for all ages and fitness levels.

If you’ve been meaning to visit your local leisure centre, or have a friend or family member who needs some encouragement, this could be the perfect day to give it a go! Or, you might prefer to try out some online fitness classes at home, or join up with friends or family for a walk or a cycle ride in your local park.
