NK Walking Festival Bat Walk at Big Wood
As part of the NK Walking Festival, join the walk at the Big Wood in Norton to observe bats flying and hunting. Everyone will be given a bat detector and then the short walk will commence.
The Big Woods have every species that is reasonable to find for the area, including some of the most northerly roosts of certain species. Even including Britain’s most endangered bat, the magnificent Barbastelle.
Please note, this walk is highly weather dependant, so ensure to be vigilant for email and social media updates. Please ensure you bring footwear suitable for walking in a woodland. This walk is a little late in the day, because bats are nocturnal, but the walk is very child friendly otherwise. Please do not bring dogs.
This free walk is part of the North Kesteven Walking Festival, a program of walks delivered in partnership with Hill Holt Wood and North Kesteven District Council.
