A thriving tennis community
Tennis continues to grow across Lincolnshire thanks to the dedication of clubs, coaches and volunteers who are making the sport more accessible for everyone.
That commitment was recognised when Lincolnshire Tennis was named LTA County of the Year 2025, celebrating the outstanding work taking place to develop the game across the county. From grassroots participation through to performance pathways, local clubs are helping people enjoy tennis for fun, fitness and competition.
The county is also nurturing talented young players, including 17-year-old Harrison McElnea, who recently competed at the prestigious ITF Juniors Roehampton tournament – one of Britain’s leading junior events and an important stepping stone towards Wimbledon.
Clubs welcoming new players
Whether you’ve never picked up a racket before or are returning after a break, many clubs across Lincolnshire offer coaching, social sessions and opportunities to meet other players. Below are just a few highlights of what’s on offer.
Boston Tennis Club is one of the county’s leading venues, with 17 courts, including indoor and clay surfaces. The club has earned national recognition for both its facilities and its commitment to making tennis accessible to everyone.
Last year, the club received the Inclusion & Diversity Award at the Active Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards for its work creating opportunities for people of all ages and abilities, particularly those with disabilities and additional needs.

Grantham Tennis Club is an award-winning, inclusive sports facility. It features 9 outdoor courts, 4 indoor courts, a fully equipped gym, and a cafe. Honored with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, it offers sessions and coaching for all ages and abilities
Alongside a full programme of junior and adult Coaching, Grantham Tennis Club also offer indoor Walking Tennis sessions. These are perfect for people will lower mobility to improve their health and and fitness while developing tennis skills, socialising and having fun!

Sleaford Tennis Club is a very friendly, sociable and open tennis club with a varied membership of all ages and abilities. They have four floodlit outdoor all-weather hard courts. The club run Wheelchair and fully inclusive sessions every Wednesday.
This summer they are offering friendly social tennis for families on Sunday mornings. All equipment and ice cream/ lolly or hot chocolate provided for only £2 per person.

Tennis in your local park
You don’t have to join a club to enjoy tennis. There are courts in parks across Lincolnshire -just book your place, grab a friend and your racket and have a knock about!
If you’d like to give tennis a try but don’t have any equipment, you can enjoy Barclay’s Park tennis. These free, social tennis sessions for all ages, led by a volunteers, are taking place on Sunday’s throughout the summer at Wyndham park in Grantham. Find out more how to take part at here.
